Fashion File: Entry #3

When it comes to fashion, one should never have to jeopardize style for comfort. Case in point, my outfit for today…I went for party girl meets casual chic. I wanted to emphasize on multi-usage of a single fashion item…the sequin top. I didn’t feel like wearing the normal heels get up to work so I threw on a grey sequin top, a pair of black leggings, a black fitted hoody with a jean jacket over, topped it off with a scarf and ended with my loyal pair of chucks.

Jacket: DKNY $49.50, Hoody: Express $39.50, Sequin Top: Express $29.50, Leggings: Forever 21 $9.50, Scarf: H&M $10

Because I didn’t particularly care to do my hair that day, I went for the no fuss high bun. Now for the easy part, if I wanted to switch the look up to accommodate an evening affair, I’d simply let my hair down, throw on a pair of wide-leg trousers, heels, and some medium hoop earrings. I’d definitely leave the scarf on. Throw on some lashes and liner and you’re good to go!

Black is an unbiased and forgiving color that is best worn by…everyone! And here at MAC, we don’t wear uniforms…we wear MAC Black. With that being said its no surprise that my closet is lacking color and filled predominately with articles of black clothing.

Every season, MAC trains ALL of our Artists in a span of 3-4 weeks. Well that means for 3-4 weeks, 4x out of the year, you will find me in black.

top: Express $19.99, bottoms: Express $15.99, jacket: H&M $39.50, tights: Macy's $12.50, shoes: Marciano $119.99

So this little number I put together was for the first day of training (aka MAC Update). The top and bottoms I actually purchased on sale (I love a good sale, who doesnt?!?). I love the silk pleated high-wasted short. You can pair them with a top you can tuck in OR with a regular top pulled over the short…because theyre black I find them to be very versatile AND comfortable…I love them! The silk-tiered ruffle top is a fun one. It would moonlight as a great “night out” top if paired with a cute pair of jeans and colored heels.

Because it was a cold day I opted to pair my look with tights. The headband was a finishing touch and the blazer worked well for the weather but remained with the look at the same time. When I walked into work they said I looked “prim and proper”. Well that was just the look I was going for!

Every morning when I get ready, I think to myself, “what story do I want to tell?” and/or “who do I want to be today?”

So here is the same pair of shorts…I thought of a cupcake when I got dressed so the look I went for was “fun…like confetti” :)
