The realization that I am indeed aging.

21 Mar

My most recent visit to Las Vegas seriously has put into perspective the fact that I am indeed aging. My poor 26 year old body can barely keep up with the 21 year old party.

My typical busy week of school and work left me last minute packing at 11pm on a Thursday night to catch a 7:50am flight to Vegas the next morning. I cringed at the thought of my kind friend honking her horn at 5am to pick me up. I needed to get a full nights rest as I knew the wrath that Vegas had planned for me.

Fast forward to Friday morning…a very tired me landing at the McCarran airport just minutes from what my ex-boyfriend called “the Devils Playground”. I was running on empty…on 1 hour of sleep specifically. Ugh! I take a cab to Excalibur where my very wide-eyed future sister in-law greets me at the lobby. The day starts, and we’re off to the races…checking out the venus for their wedding, tasting options of entrees and wedding cake, and making sure that everything is set as planned. What followed was nothing short of a mircale…I was still up! Even the next 4 hours of shopping didnt take me down.

We managed to make it back after a day of uber busy-ness and they mention the night time festivities planned. Dinner and dancing. To make a long story short…I could barely keep up. Of course i’d get excited to get dolled up for the evening but I found myself barely making it to the midnight hour. Actually, the first night we got back from our evening gala just at midnight only to wake up in the middle of the night face down on my bed still in my dress.

Maybe it was the initial lack of sleep going into this trip. Maybe I drank too much or didnt drink enough. Maybe I shouldve wore flats instead of heels to guarantee that the “my feet hurt” excuse card wouldnt and couldnt be pulled. The only excuse that I can guarantee is the fact that I am no longer 21. I need about 8 hours of sleep to function. I cant party all night long and stroll in during the wee hours of the morning. And I cant stop this aging process. I’ll let you know when I start to embrace it. Until then…

Grand Pas de Deux:In ballet, a pas de deux (French, step/dance for two) is a duet in which ballet steps are performed together. It usually consists of an entrée, adagio, two variations (one for each dancer), and a coda.

I dont want to say this pas de deux is the best in the world…I havent seen all of them to say. But that does not discredit the fact that this particular one is indeed amazing. So much so the first time I watched it, I watched it an additional 20 times. The lifts at the end are superb and the on-stage togetherness vibe is apparent.

Watch the video. It speaks for itself.
